Enhancing Lives through

Caring Companionship

Everyone needs someone, especially as we age and face the challenges of being alone or managing daily tasks. Loneliness is a prevalent issue among the elderly, caused by various factors such as infrequent visits from loved ones or the difficulty of adjusting to life after the loss of a spouse. At SHA Care Services, we understand the profound impact of loneliness and the need for companionship, and we are committed to providing compassionate live-in care that addresses these emotional and social needs.

With our standard live-in care and support, you can be assured that SHA Care Services' carers will provide you with the companionship you need. Having someone to talk to, listen to music with, help with shopping or making appointments on time.

Companionship focuses on the social aspect of care rather than assisting with personal or medical needs. The carer will soon become a trusted and friendly part of your day and will be glad to assist if it means an improvement to yourself and your quality of life.

This service ensures that you or your loved one receive the care and supervision needed for a safe and restful night.

SHA Care Services' overnight care supports a range of needs, including:

Types of Overnight Care

SHA Care Services offers two main types of overnight care to suit different needs and preferences: Sleeping duty and Waking night duty.

Sleeping Duty

Accommodation Requirements: SHA Care Services' carers can stay overnight if suitable accommodation is available. They will sleep at your home and can be alerted via alarms if their assistance is needed.

Prompt Response: Although the carer is asleep, they are on standby to respond promptly to any needs that arise during the night, providing peace of mind that help is immediately available if required.

Waking Night Duty

Constant Vigilance: For those who require urgent or constant support, SHA Care Services offer waking night duty. This involves the carer staying awake throughout the night and providing immediate assistance as needed.

Immediate Assistance: This type of care ensures that there is always someone alert and ready to help with any issues that arise, from medical emergencies to providing comfort and support.

Palliative Care

Palliative care extends beyond end-of-life care. It provides compassionate and essential support for individuals living with serious, incurable illnesses. The primary goal of palliative care is to improve the quality of life for the individual by managing symptoms and providing emotional and psychological support. This type of care enables patients to stay in their own homes, surrounded by familiar comforts, and maintain meaningful connections with friends and family.

Palliative care

SHA Care Services recognises that having a chronic disease, or life-limiting illness can take away a lot of freedoms. SHA Care Services think it's important that each individual will always have a choice over how they would like to receive comfort and care to help manage their quality of life. Our palliative care support is in 5 stages, with each stage offering a range of medical, emotional, spiritual and social support services:

Stage 1: Stable – Developing and Implementing the Care Plan. Clearly, we would like to start our care as soon as possible but recognise this is not possible sometimes.

Stage 2: Unstable – Adjusting the Care Plan & preparing for the emotions of the future.

Stage 3: Deteriorating – Shifting to End-of-Life-Care where we aim to make daily life as comfortable as possible.

Stage 4: Terminal – Symptom Management, Emotional & Spiritual Care if required.

Stage 5: Bereavement – Support for Family Members, Loved Ones & Carers.

Ultimately, SHA Care Services recognises that it cannot change the outcome but we can affect the journey for each patient, which we will do to the full benefit of the individual.

End-of-Life Care

End-of-life care is a crucial aspect of healthcare, providing comfort, dignity, and support to individuals in the final stages of life. At SHA Care Services, we understand that this period is challenging not only for the person receiving care but also for their friends and family. SHA Care Services' comprehensive end-of-life care services are designed to address the physical, emotional, and practical needs of those nearing the end of life, ensuring they can spend their remaining time in a familiar and supportive environment.

SHA Care Services' end-of-life care service aims to do the following:

  • Affirm life and regard dying as a normal process.
  • Neither hasten nor postpone death.
  • Provide relief from pain and distressing symptoms.
  • Integrate physical, social, emotional and spiritual aspects of care to help you and your family attain an acceptable quality of life.
  • Offer help to your family during your illness and their bereavement.
  • Offer care in your choice of place, including home, hospital, care home or hospice.
  • Seek to make the patient's life as comfortable as possible by controlling pain and symptoms, easing the patient's concerns over daily living needs, and helping the patient and family address psychological and spiritual needs. Respect for the patient's culture, beliefs and values are essential components of palliative and end of life care.
